Christmas cookies
One of my family’s traditions during this time of the year, is to bake cookies to share for Christmas time. These are ginger, cinnamon and orange cookies. My little one loves to decorate them!
Here I share the recipe and a few ideas of decoration. Happy Holidays and have fun!

200 grs butter | |
2 cups self raising flour | |
1 egg | |
1 tsp cinnamon | |
1 tsp ground ginger | |
100 grs sugar | |
1 tsp orange extract | |
-PARA DECORAR: | |
*Royal icing (no egg version): | |
100 grs Icing sugar | |
3 tbsp water | |
1/2 lemon juice | |
*Marzipan: | |
200 grs sugar | |
200 grs ground almonds | |
1 egg | |
*Others: Fondant | |

Directions
1.
Make the pastry
In a bowl, put the butter and sugar and mix until they are lightened in colour and fluffy. Add the egg and orange extract and beat until combined.
Then start adding the flour mixed with the cinnamon and ginger.
Form a dough, cover it with cling film and leave it in the fridge for an hour.

Cut the cookies and bake
Preheat oven to 180˚C. Cut the cookies shapes out and bake them for about 12 minutes.

Cool and decorate the cookies
Leave the cookies to cool on a rack before decorating.
